Jerimy's AMAZING Stew

Jerimy's AMAZING Stew

a.k.a. the BEST stew known to man

I have dreams about this stew...I crave it. It's the meal that turns a miserable day into a joyful day.

1.5 lbs. chuck stew meat (Use: chuck stew meat from Harmons [Do NOT use: WalMart stew meat])
4 medium potatoes; diced
1/2 white onion; diced
1/2 red onion; diced
4 carrots; peeled and diced
2 heaping T. spicy brown mustard
3 heaping T. minced garlic
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. basil
2 shakes of cayenne pepper
1 1/2 cups of water
1/2 stick of butter
1 McCormick brown gravy packet (added during last hour of cooking)

Dice the potatoes, onion, and carrots; place in crock pot. Add chuck stew meat. Add the rest of the ingredients, except for the brown gravy packet. Cook on low for 8 hours. During last hour of cook time, add brown gravy packet.

          Enjoy!

          Banditos

           Banditos

(Thank you Jerimy and Mom Vosika!)

When this tasty meal was first introduced to me, I was hooked: hook, line, and sinker. It is similar to "Walking Tacos"--which you might find at a neighborhood Halloween trunk-or-treat. This is definitely a crowd pleaser.

Taco-seasoned chicken; cooked and shredded (or taco-seasoned ground beef)
          Romaine lettuce; chopped
          Avocado; diced
Cilantro; chopped (we go heavy on the fresh cilantro!)
          Sliced black olives
          Shredded fiesta cheese
          Pico de Gallo
          Sour cream
          Lime
          Fritos chips
          Tajin seasoning, optional

In your personal serving bowl, start with the chopped romaine lettuce and then add all of the toppings. We like to squeeze fresh lime juice over it all and then crush Fritos chips over the top. It is SO good!

We could not stop eating this! We enjoyed this delicious dessert with So Delicious Snickerdoodle ice cream. Enjoy!

3 to 4 cups diced fresh pears (we did about 5 small pears)
          1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
          8 tablespoons butter
          3/4 cup all-purpose flour
          2 teaspoons baking powder
          1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
          1/4 teaspoon salt
          3/4 cup milk
          1 large egg
          Ice cream, for serving, optional
          Whipped cream, for serving, optional

          1. Pre heat oven to 325 F, and place the rack in the middle. In a large bowl, mix the pears with 1/2 cup of the sugar and let stand.
          2. Put the butter in a 2-quart baking dish and place in the oven until melted, about 5 minutes.
          3. Combine the remaining sugar, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a mixing bowl. Mix well.
          4. Whisk together the milk and egg in a separate small mixing bowl.
          5. Slowly combine the milk and egg mixture with the dry ingredients to make a batter.
          6. Pour the batter over the melted butter. Do not stir.
          7. Spoon the diced pears over the batter. Do not stir.
          8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-65 minutes, or until nicely browned and the pears are tender. If the topping appears to be browning, cover the dish with foil and continue baking until the pears are tender.
          9. Remove the cobbler from the oven and set it on a rack to cool for at least 15 minutes. Enjoy the cobbler hot or cold with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.

          (Thank you Stella!!!)

This is always a hit during Christmas, Valentine's Day, or any day for that matter!

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
          1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
2 (8 oz.) packages refrigerated crescent rolls
1 cup canned cherry pie filling
          1/2 cup powdered sugar
          1 - 2 tsp. milk

Preheat oven to 350. In a mixing bowl: combine cream cheese, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, and vanilla; mix until smooth. Unroll crescent dough and place each triangle shaped piece with the points outward, leaving a large hole in the middle of your cookie sheet. (Your dough should look like a sun when you are finished.) Spread dough out with your fingers. Spread cream cheese mixture on dough. Spoon cherry pie filling on top of cream cheese. Fold dough points inward and seal at center. (You can twist dough when folding inward for a fancier look.) Bake until golden, 25-30 minutes. Cool slightly.

For glaze: Mix remaining powdered sugar and milk until smooth; drizzle over bread wreath.

          Serve warm. Makes 12 servings.
