My hubby LOVES Kneaders French Toast! It is very sweet so we only do it for special occasions. Whether you do it on the griddle or baked, it won't disappoint. We do the baked version if we would like the convenience of making the dish the night before. Enjoy!
Kneaders Chunky Cinnamon French Toast
1 loaf Kneaders Chunky Cinnamon Bread cut into 8 slices (Or you could use any store bought cinnamon swirl bread)
8 eggs
3 cups milk
1 T. brown sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 T. vanilla
2 T. butter
Optional: serve with whipped cream and strawberries on top
On the Griddle:
Preheat an electric griddle to 375 degrees F. In a shallow baking dish mix eggs, milk, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla. Melt butter evenly across your griddle. Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture and coat completely on each side. Place coated bread on hot griddle and turn until lightly browned on each side.
Baked in the Oven:
Butter a 9 x 13 glass baking dish generously. Place the bread flat in the baking dish. Mix all ingredients except the butter. Dip the bread thoroughly in the egg mixture, then place flat in the baking dish. (Do not be concerned with the leftover egg mixture. It is too eggy if you use all of it.) Cut butter into pieces and dot over the top. Refrigerate overnight or at least one hour. Bake 45-50 minutes at 350 degrees. Serves 8.
